Many gardener have great success with asparagus that is 8-12 inches apart in high compost fulled beds.

My mom had asparagus beds that were twenty years old and still produced tons of tender asparagus every year. When you plant any of these plants she mentions, be prepared to let those plants to STAY PUT for many, many years.

Asparagus grows quite well here in TX. I know of people in Houston that do well with asparagus. It dosent get much hotter and humid than that. I don't know where you are but it's worth a shot. The main thing that they take is time. 3 years before your first harvest...
