I need a bigger garden.........
-
how do you spreed the roots if you are putting them on their side all the other videos show them being planted roots down and the crown just above the surface
-
REALLY? Dig your trench AFTER you soak them? Don't spread the roots? Dump dirt clods on them with a hoe? Plant them in a row rather than a wide-bed?
-
Thanks for the video, Just planted my first ever Asparagus. Thank You for your time to help me learn, Lee
-
Yes the pellets will work, just follow the instructions on the bag.
-
I cannot find the hi-yeild Phosphate in the powder, will the pellets work as good? thanks
-
Yes you are right, the roots need to be spread out.
-
We have not seen the benefit, just takes longer.
-
We do not as it just takes longer to plant. We normally get to harvest the second year.
-
no you should wait till at least next year and make sure they are as thick as your little finger.
-
Shouldn't you spread the roots out ?
-
Do not cut them the first year, this helps the root system to properly fill out. The second year you can cut them once the spears grow to 3/4 inch thick.

Hi. My name is Joe. I have a question. I just bought the Asparagus at the Wal-mart. and it came with 10 crowns that has around 1 inch to 1 1/2 inch in diameter. and they are starting to grow already. and those are around 1/4 inch to 3/8 inch in diameter. Should I wait for 3 years to harvest? or should I start harvest now? It's been a 2 weeks that I planted in my garden. and if it is O.K. to start harvest should I keep on cut them till winter? or harvest only so much and let it grow?
