I appreciate your video. I live homeless on my own choosing on the beach in Florida and grow a secret garden under a boardwalk. Surprisingly nobody knows plants anymore so they don't get bothered. I now have cucumbers, broccoli, lettuce, and cauliflower.

How long should you leave the carpet pieces down? After a while can they inhibit the growth of the cauliflower or does the cauliflower grow through it?

Do these problems occur in Australia? Do we have all those bugs do you know?

I planted today as a noob so I'm intrigued by your carpet shield idea.. I imagine thin foam would also work right?
