what I find is good as well is rather than trying to weed out all the weeds from around the tree or plant you wanna care for, is to place a nice thick layer of mulch on top of the smaller weeds. they get starved of sunlight and you get all the benefits of mulching.

Last year, hardwood mulch was used around my tomato plants and it was loaded with Spider Mites.. Not a good experience using mulch.

Off topic so excuse me. But I put myself in a crappy situation. I had some "bald" spots on my grass so I used a Scott's fertilizer and over used it. I now have big brown spots all over my grass. Any suggestions?
