I thought this non-dessert part of youtube would be safe. Not! Had to stop the video about 4 minutes in, run to the kitchen and make some simple nachos. (Easier to imagine the Salsa Verde with my nachos, of course!) I ate too much and watched the video a couple more times.
I used to grow a lot of tomatoes and peppers, but the heat here in NM is too brutal for me. You convinced me to get some tomatillo seeds ASAP for a few plants this year. But before the first harvest, I'll buy them from the farmer's market so I don't have to wait. -
I just made your Tomatillo Salsa Verde...I got a bunch of Tomatillo's at Market on the Move this morning and had some cilantro and jalapeno's from my garden! So So good and I have tomatillo seedings growing right now under my grow lights for the spring! I will be making lots of this, I can already tell!!! Thank you for the great recipe!!! :)

Looks delicious and makes me want to try growing tomatillos. For a really good flavor, try roasting the tomatillos and chili. Your son is adorable!

i'm trying this out but just slightly different for my brother i'm using purple tomatillos as well as regular from "seeds of change" seed company and ground cherries that made their way into my compost pile and then grew in my garden the next year. >.> mistaken identity, i thought they were tomatillos. i found them originally last november, or rather their remains, in a community garden that had been shut down for the winter, all over the ground near the thing, didn't want them to go to waste.
And then when i go to bring vegetables to my local food kitchen and mention tomatillos, they asked for my advice because they didn't know what to do with them but their garden outreach coordinator had planted them in the vegetable garden used by the food kitchen and pantry. When i said they're used for salsa and seviche (sp)? i could see the volunteer coordinators faces fall.
I convinced them to put the tomatillos out with the food pantry stuff rather than the food kitchen stuff for their hispanic clients. We have a lot of hispanics in our city, roughly 1/3rd of the population. So thats how they ended up being used.
Plus they let me take a couple handfulls of their tomatillos, tomatoes and ground cherries home, after all I picked them three whole bags worth! Suddenly gossiping about gardening after hours with the ladies paid off :D. -
I added poblano pepper to my salsa verde, it gives it a unique pepper taste. You should give it a whirl. -Kayla

Grandpa Rick used to make pork salsa verde but I did not get his recipe and he has passed. However this looks and sounds very familiar. I could smell it as the steam rolled. Good sign. =) will be trying with the addition of some home smoked dice pork. Simmer on low .. I an see it working a good rendition of Grandpa's. would make me happy. TY for sharing.

Sindy approved the ingredients, but she said to roast the tomatillos and peppers over a flame till they are charred and you have a winning combo. we have the same serving bowls too, very neat touch.
