I'm looking for the ones done on the side of milk jugs. Where should I look?

It is my understanding that the hot sun/heat also effects the leaching of the plastic into the soil land and therefore also into the food. It is an individual choice but not a risk I am willing to take.

Why not cut off the bottom, hang it upside-down with the plant growing out the spout?

Am I the only person that worries about growing in plastic? I am very concerned that the plastic leaches into the food and then into me. No thank you!

I use this method on my balcony, but have rigged up a hanging system with ropes. Making a hole in the back (where the handle is) enables the jug to angle toward the sun and I'm having very good success with that. Obviously hanging jugs is largely dependent on rules of your homeowner's association or building manager.

I just read an article where the person poked tiny holes in the gallon jug instead of cutting the top off. The person then buried the jug to use as a waterer for her plants. The top was saved to put back on the jug and mulch covered it afterwards.

thats just gave me another idea....im going to cut the top off my bottle too..it will make a great jug for my fish tank ....doing the weekly part water change ...cool.

What a great idea... I think to complete the look you can spray it with a faux stone textured spray paint. :) that would be awsome :) a stone pot with a handle.

I was doing this to save money and this last week went to my gardening center complaining about how many bigger pots i would need and how much they cost $3 each at home depot. My gardening center had them in the back for 10 cents each. I got twenty for two dollars. Im throwing away my milk jugs because I have learned that they are so small your plants roots dont get big enough and the plants dont produce as much fruit.

if you have a dollar tree in your area, (if not you can go online to dollartree. com) you can get round coconut baskets and large containers. its a great deal!!
