U kno wat...you're the last video I'm watching pertaining to my "how do I keep these damn birds outta my garden?!!??!" search. Reason? YOUR video actually helped me. CD's, bottles/cups (mini greenhouse effect), and MOST importantly, the effects of the bird netting over a medium-sized, yard garden like my own. Thank u wholeheartedly. :-D

I was loving the birds around my garden for the first few weeks. They seemed to keep the insects in check, and I thought we had a pretty good thing going - they ate for free & I had free pest control. This past week, things have changed. They have turned their little beady eyes away from bugs and toward MY food. The worst part is that they peck a couple of holes in each vegetable - not enough to enjoy - just enough to ruin it for me. Just yesterday, I had to throw out my 5 best tomatoes.

Genius!

@NewEnglandgardening Haha yes it found its way all the way to Arizona, thanks. Yeah that's what would happen in my garden I'd find my new plants ripped up with basically everything attached. I think they do it as a funny joke

I loaned the movie the Day after tomorrow to my brother and I only got the case back. I wonder if that's were it went. No big loss anyway. Good garden tips. I've seen sparrows pick at seedlings and it almost seemed malicious because they just leave it there. I don't know how anything gets to market after all these critters have their way.

@4GreenEarth2 We get a lot of grackle and morning dove and I think those are the ones that have destroyed my new plants, so that's why I had to do something about it or else I wasn't gonna get anything ever grow more than two inches. I'm sure they can be beneficial too like eating those caterpillar though...

@SteveHarpster Thanks, yeah if the cd works for you, you'll have to show us.

@Allen2045 Thanks hope it'll help.

@mhpgardener You gotta, unless you want to keep planting and replanting...

Whatever it takes...must protect the veggies !

great video, I have a problem with them getting my grapes. I did see the cd before I would like to see how that works, thanks

Wow, what kind of birds do you have ? It's interesting to hear you saying you want to keep the birds away from your garden. I like to keep mine in my garden so they can eat the cabbage caterpillar - the birds here in Pennsylvania where I live are not a problem to other veggies except when I have strawberry ripening.

@modoc42 It could, I'd try it. I don't have any problems with squirrels or chipmunks so I'm not sure, but I've heard you could put up pie tins on a string and pole or stick like I did with the cd's and they say it works good because it's shiny and then makes a noise when it blows in the wind hitting the pole. Also wind chimes too you could try out. Good luck.

@Planting81 Ha yeah I feel yeah the birds ripped out just about my whole garden right after planting it. Try the bird netting, I never had any problems or anything ripped out or eaten after I put that up at.
-
@modoc42 Thanks, hope it helps if you had problems with birds like I did.

Funny cause I was just thinking about doing something since the bird around my area think I planted the strawberries for them.
