gardenia is a frustrating plant to care for. there is contradiction in advise of different experts. i just saw a video where they said not fertilize during the (resting) winter months, and to let the soil dry out before watering. but i also hear the soil should be kept moist. i think that in warmer climates one can have success with gardenia but in colder zones, it is virtually impossible! :(
