just buy seeds replant every 2 weeks loads of onions all year round

I have a much better system! Why pull the entire green onion, roots and all, only to cut off the bottom part off??!! Then you have to try to get the plant over the shock and replant. Just HARVEST the onion by CUTTING IT CLOSE TO THE GROUND level. The part you would have otherwise cut off is still left in the ground with less shock to plant. The plant will issue new shoots with no problem. I actually like to cut the onions farther from ground level, it seems they grow new shoot faster.

Do I need to worry about the red vine at the bottom of the onion or do I peel it off when I harvest it

How to you get them to grow faster and get taller

I've been doing this all summer so far and it's working great!!!! and its true that it only takes a few days to rehydrate the stock :)

Buy organic green onions for just a little more money and use those.

Too much unnecessary work. Why destroy an existing root system and remove the onions to put them right back. Here is what I do. I take a nice sharp set of pruning shears an cut the onions I want. Within a few days there is new growth showing. I have been cutting and re-growing for over two years. Lost count of how many times they have come back.

U can also plant them indoors in some gud potting soil, add 2tbls 2 a gal of water of epsom salts wit the measured amount of miracle grow and watch um grow. Plus I hv about 4 I bought from the store that I js stuck down in potting soil and they're huge now and r even growing new leaves. My Aunt use to plant them and pin some of the leaves bak down n the dirt and they would multiply and grow big huge bulbs..Onions r fun to grow

I have a massive crop - year in and year out. Hey mate - I love your accent - and then your stories.. heading off track but you come back. Bahahahaha !! Thanks for the entertainment !
Try potatoes 365 days per year ! Thats FAB fun ! Stick em in the ground full of compost and watch them multiply ! -
I am trying this at present. I put the bottoms in water about a week and a half ago, changed the water daily and the roots have grown long; the tops have grown about 4 to 6 inches. They are starting to look like maturing green onions. I bought a bag of 6 bunches at the Asian H-Mart Supermarket for $2.50. It's really working. I will plant them outside in soil today and I hope the transition works.

I cut the tops off in the ground. that way you save planting time.

Green onions are perennials. They will grow and regrow in your garden. I remember that my grandmother had a bed of green onions, more of a clump or cluster, that just kept growing. She would cut the tops just above the ground, and the root stayed in to keep growing for years.

I did this, and mines grew with in a week! Thanks.
