Wow! Nice harvest.
I planted my slips, earlier last year, throughout spring. Couple days ago, while raking leaves, uncovered a few, only about the size of my finger. Out of 10, not one was larger than my palm. Have a bad feeling I'm possibly going to be very disappointed w/harvest. -

I was inspired by you 2 to plant sweet potatoes for the 1st time ever this year,... a 5 by 25 bed packed full of beautiful, lush, bright green foliageat the moment. Not sure where you live, but you said you wait till the last day in Septmeber to harvest. We live off of the Oneida Lake in NY,... any idea when would be a good time to go potato fishin'? Thanks!

We have a variety of sweet potato here in PHL where we eat it even fresh from under the ground (We wash it first of course) and it's naturally sweet and juicy. We also eat the leaves fresh or steamed on top of rice cooking. In my childhood days we like to plant sweet potato (Camote) after school. Thats is why my teacher teases us us as "nangangamote" when we dont know the answer hehehe They think we just plant camote rather than studying LOL
