In New Zealand & Australia in off season for some reason ONE Florette of Broccoli or Broccaccini is sometimes over $4.00 just for one. Go figure, I stopped eating them here & am now building a greenhouse to grow my own.

Broccoli is expensive for the amount you get per pounds compared to other vegetables. So is yellow squash. Think how much you can grow for the price of a pack of seeds.

I have had great success at planting red clover, alyssum, cosmos, marigolds, Queen Anne's Lace, buckwheat, lucerne, dill, caraway, coriander, phacelia, gypsophila, in & around broccoli, the mix being broadcast from seed. Does a fantastic job at creating an ecology inviting in the predators such as tiny parasitic wasps that lay their eggs in the cabbage moth eggs or larvae. I have found that once established that inputs such as fertilisers or bug deterrants are not needed.

Hello, Great vid! I've planted some purple sprouting broccoli a few weeks ago and, so far so good... I was wondering if they will need some protection with fleece over the winter or will they be ok? Barry.
