How to Grow Turmeric in Containers & Cold Climate Growing Tips
Tips, Tricks
Hi Folks. I've had a lot of people ask how we grow our turmeric & others wanting pointers for growing in cooler climates, so thought it was time to post a clip. 👍 Would definitely encourage you to plant some turmeric if you're in a warm enough climate & you love using this tasty spice. It's a very easy plant to grow & with a bit of care it can be grown in cooler climates too. Hi Rob... I live in Florida USA zone 9b. We are considered sub-tropical with very little chance of frost. If I were to use turmeric as a landscape plant, what soil amendments would you recommend for our very sandy, infertile dirt here? Thanks! --Tim

I was wondering if planting turmeric in a container such as a tub do you need drain holes or can you put sand in the bottom then soil on top, then plant.

I planted store bought turmeric and it didn't sprout. Then I purchased a ginger plant and put it in the turmeric pot. After planting the ginger, the turmeric sprouted. Can I leave them together?

First year planting ginger, galangal and turmeric. It's growing in a raised bed and black containers. Will they survive if I leave them outside during winter in zone8a?

When would it be ideal to start these? I'm in Northern CA right now and it's beginning to get cold. Is this a bad time?
