determinate is a bush style and produce fruit mostly within a small time period. indeterminate plants continue growing throughout the grow season and produce fruit all season. these can get 6 to 10 feet tall or longer.
-
The indeterminate plants just keep growing until they run out of warm season (or disease gets them); the determinate varieties have a fixed size they will reach.

Thank you!!! Using the PVC pipe as a wand is an absolutely brilliant idea and will be an easier method for the Florida weave I've been doing Right now my twine keeps tangling up on the plants when I'm stringing the horizontal lines. There's also the hazard of the dog that runs off with the ball of twine, sigh. I guess if I started the weave when the plants were smaller I'd no doubt find it easier.

I bought garden twine from home depot. It comes in 200 ft rolls.

where can you find the string in the box and what kind of string is it natural or synthetic? thanks for your help.

Determinant means all the tomatoes ripen late and at the same time, which is good for machine harvesting. Indeterminant are the ones that produce fruit over a longer range of time but they need to be able to grow during this which is why he recommends the taller stakes for indets.

Awesome advice I have been looking for a great Idea like this as I am planting a huge tomatoe farm this year 100+ plants. You still need to keep plants at least three to for feet apart? Or does this allow for closer plantings? Thanks!
