I'm having an issue with alkaline soil in my area (Middle TN) too, Ph is running 7.5-7.6 and on top of that our water from the tap is running 7.8 to 7.9. I am filtering it and getting out most of the chloramines but I can only get the water down to 7.5 before it goes on the plants. How much is peat moss going to drop the PH and how much do you think it will take to get it down to a range that the tomatoes will grow well? I'm having a lot of trouble right now with all of my plants. Yellowing leaves and early blight. Direct seed plantings result in growth stoppage pretty much right after the plants get their first true leaves. This is my first time with attempting organic gardening and I'm not having much fun considering all my gardens in the past were quite successful. I'm suppressing the urge to go get some miracle grow just to salvage what I can this year but I don't want to totally ruin the soil. Any suggestions would be much appreciated! Glad I found your channel :)

bet you love cucumbers

I just fertilized yesterday with miracle gro shake and feed can I still use the tomato tone or is it one or the other? Also is it ok to water with Epsom salt if I just added the miracle gro yesterday? Thank You and loved this video!! I took lots of notes :)

Can I add epsom salt to a container after I have planted a tomato plant and if so how should i apply it?
-
Thanks for an informative video. It's worth pointing out that the manufacture of fertiliser is not necessarily good for the environment because it's labeled organic. Many of the elements therein are non-renewable and obtained by dubious extractive processes.

hello....I am an American in the Philippines and trying to help local farmers [who are extremely poor] to grow a high value crop like tomato. The problem is, I am not an expert and am hearing a variety of do this and do that and many are conflicting.
1- Yes or no....can I grow tomatoes in the same land [ we grow tomatoes buy the hectare and have appx 20K plants per hectare] after the last harvest is done?
2- the rows are about 1 meter apart. can we simply shift the row of the next crop to the area we are walking in?
3- We want to use worm castings but a 1 pound scoop per plant means about a 1000 dollars of added expense per hectare. It can be worth it if it allows us to replant in the same row.
4- what is the best fertilizer practices? We currently use chicken manure and 14-14-14. 5- we spray for aphids and also a couple other issues such as blossom end rot and so on.
any help from anyone would be greatly appreciated.
Labor here is cheap but anything else such as equipment and gadgets are to costly.
Help us help the poor farmer.
Thanks -
Do you notice a difference in disease resistance with using the aspirin.

John kohler talks that to put rock dust minerals with worm castings is the best way, because beneficial soil organisms frostings break down minerals and incorporate in soil. what do you think?

I use something called Alaska fish fertilizer - found at The Home Depot for about $7 - and epsom salts I get at Dollar Tree. Also put about 1/2 cup of sugar in planting hole to help make tomatoes sweet and prevent mildew and root rot. Lastly, I use crushed up leaves as a mulch for my containers because it prevents soil warmth, retains water and gives plant organic matter that will break down. And it's free!
If you buy all these fertilizers you must ask yourself if you are gardening for a hobby or to feed yourself and your family healthy food and save money. -
Peat moss is murder - don't use it- it's part of deforestation - takes years to grow and then it's stolen an sold - plus preservatives are added- you can use other media-

is it just me or is she really hot lol
