How to Grow Strawberries from Runners. Free plants = more fruit.
Tips, Tricks
Propagating strawberry plants is really easy. Once they stop producing fruit they throw all their energy into "Runner" production & it is a great time to extend your patch, take some off for friends & family. They are one plant that once you buy you will have them for life & they make great gifts for friends & family. Subscribing to us at Bits Out the Back is as easy as clicking below http://www.youtube.com/subscription_center?add_user=bnbob01 You can also find Bits Out the Back on Facebook, Instagram & G+ where we post mini updates on the aquaponics/aquaculture, chooks, worms, wicking bed gardens & other small tidbits. www.facebook.com/Bitsouttheback & on Instagram at bits_out_the_back Have a great one everyone.

Thanks for providing this information. I would like to know how you dealt with any diseases, such as leather rot, scorch, leaf spot, leaf blight ad anthracose. I am growing strawberries in full sun in a tropical climate with wet weather and hot sun. All crops get sufficient water Do you think wild strawberries with fare nay better in the climate I just mentioned. Assistance appreciates. Please note that strawberry varieties are unknown and I plant also strawberry from seeds from the the strawberries in the supermarket i.e Driscolls strawberries

My Strawberry plant (that I've had on my balcony for a year), looks super dead (after not surprisingly having not survived a Swedish Winter on our balcony)!!! But when I was about to throw it out & reuse the pot, have found runnners/shoots, seem to be already rooted, but will let them get bigger to be sure where they're connected, if at all. So excited, looks like at least 6 so far (mid Spring) :) Must have survived because of the bubble wrap on one side of pot, or side against the house, or under the old growth...dunno, but I'm pleased :) Was a hard lesson to learn as an Aussie, now gardening in Swedish climate! Thanks for the video :)

I planted runners last year and well I thought I messed up because they didnt grow but looked as if they were dying. Low and behold after this past winter those little devils survived the weather and actually still alive and already growing berries. I guess the key is Plant them and forget them. Thats what I did.

I'm really liking your videos! Excellent work and helpful as I'm getting ready to install a large aquaponics system at my house along with some wicking beds....and worms of course! Thank you for making these.

I bought a couple of strawberry plants on sale. I assume they are at the end of their season. Should I plant them in bigger pots? Will they survive winter in Sydney?
