Hey Luke ( aka Mr. Dethaw :-) ) I know the growers spray their potatoes but I bought a bag a few weeks ago and almost every potato was growing eyes. How would they be for growing?
-
seriously.... I have been doing this all wrong for 5 years! Everything I was told you debunked! So I am gonna give it a go again (I will not be beaten by a potato!) and we can chat next season! I think I will start earlier too, esp for sweet potatoes. THANKS SO MUCH LUKE! You are a super dude!

can we still eat the potatoes when theres things growing out of it like not their eye the are all over it

Thanks...Great video. Would you please help me with a question I keep having with my French Wife(we live in Normandy.) She says you don't need to water potatoes. Think she says this because it usually rains a great deal here but with the dryer summers I keep saying we need to ask older couple that stays at our place when we're on vacation TO WATER THEM...We come back at the end of August(French have minimum 4 week vacations,) and the plants are dry and near dead...She says no big deal*(until I harvest and show her the meager harvest...) Sorry to be so long...cheers...rr

cool excellent

any tips on how to water them?
-
If you cut your seedlings, let them air dry for a day or two (not in the sun) so they scab over. This helps prevent rot when you plant them.
-
So here's a question, how do you know where your potato's are? Do you mark them? I noticed that you don't mark them(very new gardener here, I wish I found your channel before I started with all my plants :). Also, do you have any videos on how to track like when you can harvest, when to plant etc? I live in Iowa so I'm assuming Michigan has slightly colder temperatures(and worse football teams!) Thanks again for all your videos, they are really helpful.

Question; I forgot some seed potatoes in my root cellar , I found them yesterday and they all grew very long vines from each potato in the dark cellar.. I was amazed to see this, however, I want ahead and planted the vines in my garden
do you think they will produce or should I buy new starts ? -
Hey Luke, are you able to do a Sweet Potato growing guide?
-
Dear people. Stop calling stuff that isn't done the industrial way organic. Organic means it has carbon in it. Meaning technically a store bought sprayed with chemicals produce still qualifies as organic. We need to come up with a new name for this method of none chemical, hormone, or anything industrial way of growing stuff. It has to many loop holes big businesses can take advantage of. Does anyone have ideas for a new word to replace it? I am open to suggestions.
