Hi Kim! I've just stumbled on your videos: and I have to tell you: you are like my Doppelganger on the West Coast!!! LOL (I'm in Maine :-)
Our summers tend to be a bit cooler than yours...but we do get higher temps in the summers now (during the past several years)...and yeah: lettuce can be a bit tricky to grow then. I was going to suggest the "sheet".....and was so delighted when you did exactly that. I also use the beige cloth "painter's drop cloths". They are fairly cheap....sturdier than sheets...last a long time....and hold up to washing well, if need be. They are also good to use in a similar manner when chillier evenings start coming...and frost season starts at night in (usually) September.
I LOVE having fresh salad veggie and herbs growing BOTH in the garden, and in pots on the patio that I can move inside when autumn arrives. Your idea to use a patio umbrella is a GREAT idea as well!!

Hey I notice you leave the three plants together in the pods when planting? What is your reason for not separating them? arent they spaced too close?
-
thank you. I am in Florida and I get really frustrated in the summer when I can not grow leafy green veggies. Can you recommend other plants that tolerate hot weather.
-
How many seeds did you put in pods?
-
How can you retain the seeds and store? Thanks for the hot weather tips.

How many weeks is this lettuce you grew before you put in grown?
