why do you think you should remove the dead leaves? those bring healthy microfungal networks for soil health and how the tree feeds itself. removing leaves is only an aesthetic appeal that we've grown accustomed to. thanks for the pruning advice tho.

you should not leave stubs, this is improper pruning

I'm surprised that tree is not losing any bark, as I don't see any root flare, it looks like a telephone pole in the ground, at least it doesn't have volcano mulching around it ;)

Ive grown a Japanese maple from a cutting, atm its mid July and the cutter has grown to a height of around 19in w/ 9 sets of 2 leaf's. The bottom leaf set are 4in from the base. What I need to know is when do I start to prune so the branches will start to spread and grow.?

Hello! Wanted to ask you, to clarify. I found on acer dissectum strange white coating on the reverse side of the sheet in the form of ingrown villi 1 mm., tell me, what is it and how to treat? I treated herbal acaricides, Trichoderma. Sprayed and poured at the root. Nothing helped. But the leaves do not dry, do not twist. A white coating on the reverse side of the sheet in the form of ingrown villi, can only be removed with tweezers, it leaves a mark. A finger or fingernail can't be deleted. What is it?

I am trying to grow a maple in my garden and keep it under 3m (as per property restrictions).
Do you think it is a bad idea to grow an Acer Japonicum ''Aconitifolium'' as I might need to keep trimming it short and from one side to make sure it doesn't go over my neighbours fence? -
Yes

Hi. I raise train/raise apple trees, and have always been taught to prune back to the shoulder where it intersects with the main branch or trunk. You seem to leaving a stub. Is there a good reason for that?
