Oh ,my lord! Please, please, please wet the root ball before you try to do ANYTHING to it. I could not even watch when he was taking out the big chunks of clay with feeder roots caked in.

Look up trunk chopping. Thats how you get good bonsai with thick trunk and good nebari.

Next, time check the root's before buying...If you can't go to a other store. Put the root's in a bucket of water for a hour of so. After that pull at the stem a little and release. Do that a couple of times and all the dirt/soil will be in the water. The rest you have to leave on, because the little root hairs are holding that together and you don't want do destoy them. The tree has one large branch that is crossing in the middle. That should be removed when the tree goes dormant next winter.

I am in need of some advice about my acer. For some unknown reason, my acers leaves have gone crispy and golden .... it does NOT look healthly at all ... what should I do????
