How to Grow in Hempy buckets: coco and perlite
Tips, Tricks
Hey, in this video, I show how I grow in hempy buckets with 70% coco and 30% perlite. I am growing my auto Think Differents this way. This is part of my how to grow marijuana in coco series. Check out my website for how to grow weed. It is an easy way to find my videos and other tips like feeding charts. http://growpotcheaply.com

Another good alternative is baked clay pellets at ~4mm size
Perlite is (if you go for the fine kind) 2-6mm in size. Baked clay gives more open spaces for the roots to penetrate and has a coarser surface on which more water can stick so you only have to water once a day.
So it works better for the plants.. problem is to properly saturate it you have to put more water through which gives you a higher amount of runoff. If you got a re-cycle or an ebb/flow system that's no issue but if you throw out your runoff it gets expensive.
Anothr nice feature of the 4mm pellet size compared to the bigass clay baked balls i often see people use is you don't need to run as much water/time through it to keep the moisture levels up so you can water a tent full of plants with a 30 bucks pump. (You can see a trend here.. the bigger the balls the more water you need to run through em but as a tradeOff you get more airation)
If you grow really large plants that suck up a lot of water you can mix up to 1/4th coco in there which gives you a higher absorption rate. Combine that with an air-pruning type pot to get a nice and dense root mass and you can grow full size plants in 3 galon pots without issues :)
TLDR:
#1 Cheapest substrate to grow in (in sequence): Soil, Coco, Granular Perlite, Granular Baked Clay, Baked Clay Balls
#2 Best Airation : Inverse of #1
#3 Nutrients needed throughout plant lifetime: Inverse of #1 -

Hi, what do you think of a perlite/vermiculite mix 50/50?

I have a suggestion. You should make a shorter video. I'm sure you could explain it all in 7-8 minutes! :) I couldnt watch it, you take too long explaining.

No babble. That is bullshit. You have the most information and the least "babble" of any videos I have watched. Again I want to thank you for the great videos. Tons of useful information that I need. More, please. You know who would think this is babble? People with ADD. It's a fucking McDonald's world...In the end there will only be cockroaches and idiots.

here's a question, can one use peat moss instead of coco? i've found a good supply of peat moss and perlite, just can't find coco around. i'm currently running 2 DWC 5-gallon buckets, but i'd like to have a backup option I can play around with as a 3rd easier silent way, or something to use for a mother plant. I've heard peat moss tends to runs much more acidic (like 5.0)?
how should one pH for hempy buckets? i'm guessing the same as DWC/other hydro systems [5.6-5.8?]
tried regular soil for a bit, didn't like it. i'm too much of a nerd w/ control issues.
how big of a bucket would I need to be able to not have to water it every day? (every other day should be fine for me)? are there cheap systems out there that would allow me to do a small drip feed? plan on using the lucas formula [wanna test both the OG recipe using GH bloom/micro, as well as the 1 part FloraNova]. -
A bit of advice......the whole just talking and slight gestures isn't enough, its actually quite boring and mind numbing. Next time you want to make an informative video actually do and go through w.e it is youre doing. It will add 100x the value.

I'm sorry but i might have missed it but do you use any chunky perlite or anything at the bottom water reservoir or do you use just coco and perlite the who bucket?
