Do you do anything to keep disease off your plants during the growing season?
-
Hi did you start your plants from seed?.I don't think there are many varities of heirloom ready plants you can buy I have seen brandywine for sale at stores in the spring but not many different kinds unless they are hybrid.I am trying about 4 heirloom tomatoes this year arkansas travler ,morgage lifter, red beefsteak, red brandywine and one great hybrid I have allways wanted to grow celebrity cause its disease resistant. You have such beautifull tomatoes wow just heavenly. Thanks paul

Growing tomatoes under LED lights is extremely difficult, I think you'll find that it will be almost impossible to get the right amount of power from LED lights. My experience with growing heirloom tomatoes indoors is not good, they tend to get diseases, and require really strong lights. Cherry tomatoes did much better. When I used HID lights, I got the best results.

Tomato i planted a bunch in the raised beds just to check out how they liked it, i knew they would not but i wanted to see how bad. :) other then that i have 2 x ~75 liter pots with tomato, just potting soil and cow manure, works very good i found. Im planing a NFT system for tomatos and chilis next year for 10ish plants of each that i will set up in my green house along with another DWC rig for basil

i have two, two parter garden walkthoughs uploaded here on youtube, its just a bunch of random garden stuff basicly exept the chilis that im concentrating on this year, i have a few in coco with tricorema that im feeding some store brand 4-3-5 nutrients, a few in a raised bed with compost, peat & sand, some in potting soil and cow manure and i have my pride is 3 plants in a DWC rig that gets fed advanced nutrients connoisseur ec 1.7 and i have a few growing inside under hps or mh in cocoponics

What are you growing outside? Which method did you use? I was thinking of trying a tomato with the Kratky method outside.
-
then again i dont know how good it would have been if i kept it at even a lower temp. :)
-
that is a interesting problem, i dont think it matters as much, iv never cooled my water in rigs and it always stayed well below ambient thanks to evaporation from air stones, i guess digging the reservoir down into the ground would cool it pretty good, if not to much..

Nice job Katie. Those are some good looking tomatoes.

I just watched it since YouTube stabilized it. It smooths out the video after I upload it. It definitely does something funky to my bottles. I think its still an improvement from my shaky hands.
-
Katie, I wasn't criticising your camera work, I was just pointing out that the camera is doing something a little weird to the shot. Look at the nutrient bottles at the start of video as the camera moves around - they just don't look right.... Great videos btw

I'm like a little kid every year :)

I want to try outdoor hydro too I just worry about the heat and keeping the reservoirs cooled.
-
Thank you Brock. I am always so overwhelmed with anticipation for them to ripen and then when they are ready I get overwhelmed trying to get them canned. I love tomato season!
-
humm I am working out the stabilization. Hopefully it will be better soon. Thank you!
-
Thank you! :)
-
Thank you! The tomatoes taste amazing too!
-
i think you should try hydro outside next year with the plants you start inside under leds. :)
-
