Hello Mr. Smith, I have a home that I purchased with a English Laurel hedge along a cyclone fence that has been allowed to grow a good 15+ feet high. I'm trying to decide if I should just take the hedge out all together, or if I should try to cut the hedge way back and try to save it. If I do trim it back, I will need to cut the branches back several feet past all the leaves and into larger branches. Also, it was planted really close to the cyclone fence and the branches are growing through the fence, obviously, I will have to trim all this away along the 4 ft fence. The hedge is really healthy, and I just wonder what I can do without ruining the plants that I will be trimming. I expect it to look rather ugly for some time, I just am wondering if I can do this and have it grow pack as a proper hedge? I'd be grateful for any tips or advice you might be able to give me. Thank you.
