Will Swiss chard grow during the winter in containers?

I wanted to pass along how I did with your suggestion regarding trying Ruby Red variety Swiss Chard... I couldn't believe how large, attractive, and prolific these plants were.. I've grown several other varieties, but Ruby Red was by far the best.. I grew them in plastic half-barrels I bought at LOWES, and was able to grow 5 plants per barrel.. I had no issues with blight, disease, nor pests.. Even those little White Fly Devils left them alone.. Very easy to maintain.. I just gave them high nitrogen fertilizer after picking outer leaves.. Thanks for your recommendation..

My swiss chard plant has been going for 3 years now. I just make sure I harvest all the time.

Have you tried making Patra with the leaves? I used them instead of Colocasia or Taro Leaves and they are delicious! I have about 9 plants and my family loves it!
Thanks!

I have had good luck with growing Swiss Chard 'Bright Lights' in "Grow Boxes", they are in 2 parts, you fill the lower resivour with water, then place the other container on top & fill with a good mix (like Miracle grow, etc). It wicks up the water as needed. My chard is 2 years old!! It has started to bolt due to an unseasonably warm period. These boxes are on the edge of my patio. I have gotten so much from this chard, from soups, smoothies, salads, stir fry. I will top off the soil with compost & interplant with more seeds, & actually have sweetpea flower vines climbing on one edge with wire support!!

A question when you have the time to respond..I am in South Florida, and started some Ruby Red Chard seeds... I have searched the Net for growing tips as well as your helpful video... I got a lot of info, but the one issue I couldn't find much on was thinning... The seeds seem to be a mini cluster of 3 or 4 seeds stuck together as one.. I planted seeds, 1 per small Styrofoam cup... Each cup has 4-6 3 inch stalks which have sprouted... Should I leave them to grow as one cluster, or by thinning, should I trim these seedlings down to 1 stalk?

Great Video,I do all container gardening here in South Florida, and your videos have been excellent tutorials.. I am growing Bright Lights and Ruby Red Chard.. When people see my garden it is the first thing they notice, because the plants are beautiful and colourful.. Most people have no idea what it is or how delicious it tastes until I give them some.. I have 4 friends now growing Chard in containers.. You Eggplant and Zucchini container videos were also very helpful.. Thank you for posting them.

I grew perpetual spinach last year - tried to grow some other chards too but they never got very big (bed was choked with tree roots). I am starting again this year (rainbow chard). Interestingly I discovered that the perpetual spinach was about 20 plants - I took the two smallest and re-planted this year, I hope that despite it being a bi-annual, these were so small they don't go to flower this year.
I have five rainbow seedlings ready to go out, I hope they are different colours. -
