I want to find out how elephant ears reproduce its for my science class

How do u block a plant that's outside from sunlight
-
does one have to wear Crocs to do this?
-
Once planted in the ground the plant shouldn't receive direct midday or afternoon direct light. Filtered light is ok.
-
what does "no midday or afternoon sun" mean? while youre planting it? or never?

I have 12 new bulbs to plant Elephant Ears, i don't have to dig them up every year to store over winter do I ??? i live in northern Indiana.
-
Are they eating the bulbs or leaves?
-
Hello, they grow from underground bulbs. Varieties like pink china are good to zone 6!

Hi! I've got an elephant ear growing in a planter. I didn't realize there had been petunias and coleus in the planter the year before. OMG! The elephant ear is bigger than the ones I have in the ground and the planter is running over with white petunias and Kong Coleus. It's BEAUTIFUL! I want to know if all of those will it live through the winter if I bring the planter in the house?

this is fantastic -- haven't been able to grow anything here in Phoenix other than Elephant ears and giant philos. The soil here isn't this loose so I've used pots. Something is eating my elephant ears though.

Is this taro? if it is, did you know that the leaves are edible? Very very tasty. They need to be dried first. Then, as in most asian cooking, sautee challots, garlic, and ginger with the rendered fat from pork belly. or bacon... then add chicken or whatever meat you like, and throw in some coconut milk and thai peppers for spice. If you don't mind the fishy smell, use fish sauce or shrimp paste to flavor. Otherwise use salt. Serve over rice. =)
