What if the whole stem dies? I found a sale a month ago and bought 8, they were beautiful the first week, now they might as well be monkey grass because all the blooms and buds are gone.

Just grow a finger nail on your left thumb. And `pinch` just after the flower at the stem. This way you can do it fast, without destroying the stem or other buds.

but then you get no seeds from your lillys. i leave them for seeds

Will new buds actually grow if they are dead headed? I thought the amount on the scape was fixed when the scape grew.

Hi Martha Cycz. Do you have a video showing how to care for daylilies late spring & early summer just before they flower? Can I trim back the long leaves to make the plants neater that are near the walkway? Ed

dead heading flowers must be fun, because it's sort of like an excuse to look at beautiful flowers that are right next to the dead ones :)
