How to Grow Dahlias. Stopping . Part 8 (Mid June)
Tips, Tricks
I want the plants to bush out and produce a number of stems to increase the number of flowers produced. In order to achieve this, the plants must be stopped. I do this by June 16th. Stopping is the process of removing the central growing tip. This forces the plant to put its energy into the side shoots in the leaf axils and produce a number of stronger stems. The plants are now beginning to put on a good amount of growth. hi mark, why have you removed your compost tea video?

Looking good. Is this week your normal stopping date. In the south we would wait another week or 2 as they would want to flower too early. I guess we are warmer than you. Keep up the good work. Dave

Superb Dahlia update, we are never too old to learn more! From cuttings to now really great, hope you have time to do regular updates without giving away too much to your show opposition!
