The Crypt Usteriana is really a wow for me as I simply hadn't ever seen it. (Sometimes you just have to try out a species, and yeah it's a nice perk to be able to get in all kinds of cool Crypts and other species i haven't ever seen) So Crypts aren't a beginner plant but certainly are worth trying once you have a nice planted tank rolling. CRYPTS like a nutrient rich substrate. I wasn't really ever able to get crypts thriving until i did a planted tank with dirt. If I had to pick a Crypt for you to start with it would be Crypt Spiralis. It's one of the more forgiving crypts around. I am currently stocking Crypt Blassii, Crypt Balansae and Crypt Usteriana on on Aquatic Jungles. Check out the Dustin's Fishtanks page on Face Book and drop me a line. I've never understood what everyone finds so appealing about Crypts (they've always seemed sort of unattractive to me, and people make them sound so fussy), so I ordered myself some today, just to see if personal experience will change my mind. Lol.

well i started my dirted tank 2 yrs ago with some money wart, brown crypt wendtii, wisteria, and rotala. as the time passed i realized little by little my water parameters didnt swings but first the money wart dissapeared, the wisteria was growing rampant so were the wisteria and rotala, about a year went by and the growth of the wisteria slowed down same with the rotala 2 years now the wisteria has all vanished little remains of the rotala but the crypts are going strong almost carpeting the bottom of the aquarium. i havent read any thing about crypts taking over completely but from my exp they will if you leave em to just grow.

he didn't ask if he could turn it off or not, hee asked if he could pull it out, or leave it in...yes he can take it out, as long as he guarantees the hose isn't obstructed

at my LPS i got som od the short crypts becasue of you and im seriously digging them soooooooo much! my cory cats can cruise in and stop just in the little bush i made out of the stems and im hoping they like it better then the microsword im not wanting them disturbed til they grow in since ive read it takes a long time.. i cant find how long. How long does you microsword take to mat if you take say how much a pet store would sell and plant it in about 11 by 3 inch rectangle?

Pls help and thanks in advance:)

Oh...my...gosh! That Crypt Usteriana is incredible. To paraphrase the line from JAWS, "We're gonna need a bigger tank!" Amazing! Tell me that's going into the 220. That has to go into the 220! Great video, great info. I need to give Crypts a try in my next tank make-over.

Crypt balansae sp. crispatula is a great, great background plant. With the waves it gets in the long leaves that give awesome texture.
