To reduce watering, take a look at the Back to Eden Gardening video. I'm using the BTE principles on both garden beds and container plants. I live in Colorado. Even as dry as it can get here and as low as the humidity is, I rarely have to water compared to people not using the BTE method.

Where did you get those trellis's? I have been shopping at Walmart this year, haven't made it to Lowe's or Home Depot this year yet! I am in Austin Texas and this year it is crazy hot with no rain. I moved here three years ago from Illinois where the climate is different and more conducive for gardening this time of the year. Normally in Texas we get Spring rain for a few weeks and then its drought for a long, long time! I now have a huge cucumber plant where I grew three together, they are putting on a lot of baby cucumbers and if they all grew to maturation I would have quite a harvest from those plants alone. I also have the burpee cucumbers, the others are a Spring time cucumber, those odd shaped one, skinny and long, but punch a lot of taste! The baby's are dying before they mature because of the hotter than hell weather. I am thinking that I should not garden in this region during the summer unless I have a green house. Therefore this year I am going to start over this year during the end of Summer beginning of Fall and see what happens!

Hi Amy.... I grow cukes in containers also, and I was wondering, can I add soil to the base of a mature plant? It seems to be root bound and I wanted to give it some more dirt. Thanks, enjoyed your video.
