Hi. I began germinating corn inside (using the damp paper towel method) then planted into small containers. They're not 3-4" tall and want to know how long I have to let it get before transplanting it outside. I've got two large Rubbermaid tubs. Also, I have the mychorrizal powder and want to know if I can mix it with water to water the seedlings with now, before transplanting.

how often do you have to water them from seeds when I'm sitting here starting minor about 10 inches and I'm not sure how often I'm supposed to water

When I was growing up, I used to grow sweet-corn in my garden every year. I never knew that the tassels pollinated the silk! But, I always had some great corn in spite of my lack of knowledge. However, in my later years, and living in a very different climate, my efforts have been sparse at best. Thank you for the new knowledge! :) ... AZNeil

You posted this 5 years ago so you must have perfected container growing of corn by now. My question is what kind of yield and quality of ear do you get? Thank you.

Unless the plants are used as fodder,i'd rather go for medium sized ones as they are less susceptible to gusts of wind, not to mention about having to climb a ladder.Nice video.

Any advice on how to control ear worms? I don't/won't use poison because of my honeybees.

I like what you done in growing corn. And it all makes perfect sense everything you use to grow the corn, and all of the steps that is involved in growing corn. The Only thing I'm wondering now is, that in the olden days harvesting corn have to do all that. It seemed simpler back then. I don't have a green thumb so I'm just looking for an easier way of doing this.

I was wondering if there is a risk of chemicals leaching in the soil from the bin?

Great video Nurse Amy. I live in the upper midwest and have been surrounded by corn all my life. The brush idea was cute, but why not just pull the tassle off the plant and polinate each ear directly? I don't know if your about the Prepping movement but the likelyhood of finding rhizomes and bottles of humus during a collapse or emergency would seem unlikely. Have you planted your seed w/ a fish like the Indians or applied clover as a nitrogen fixing living mulch? Or used the growing stalks as stakes for other veggies to climb on? If your into "Better living through chemicals", then try heavily diluting ammonia in water and apply to soil. Tried and true nitrogen source. Keep on growing!
