Nice video, short and right to the point. I wasn't sure how many hours of darkness the mum needed but now I know. I got my poinsettias to bloom early this year, September, but placing them in a closet for 14 hours each day from July 1st until Sept 1st so next year I'll do mums and poinsettias together and see what happens. Thank you for the video.

Hi Ryan, I always heard that you have to pinch back mums but never knew where to pinch. Last fall I purchased a potted Chrysanthemum from the garden centre and just left it outside in it's pot all winter (winter months are mild) Anyway today, April 14th I transplanted it outside where it will receive sun most of the day (except mornings) I noticed it had tiny little flower buds on it and wondered if I should leave them. I just watched your video and can't tell you how pleased I am with the information you've provided. Anyway, it looks like I'm going to be doing a lot of pinching tomorrow right up to the end of July. Thanks for this!!

Nicely done.

too much irrelevant jabber for first-time purchase of mums (late summer/fall). should be titled, "spring & summer care for you mums"...
this vid doesn't even provide sunlight & water requirements. sheesh. -

Goodness, don't I feel like an idiot. I just recently found out chrysanthemums were a flower. I spent the longest time believing it was the name of some wrestler.

Ryan, thanks for this video. I really appreciate all the details, I've always known they needed to be pruned, but I didn't know some of the great details you provided. Thanks, again.

I didn't see this soon enough. My mums all bloomed through June & July because I didn't know about the pinching off before they bloomed. They all have brown ugly edges. I have now pinched (July 22) and hope that in the fall we have nice mums ????

Thank you that was really informative. I guess I will have to go out there now and cut off my chrysanthemum heads as its only May. Great gardening video!
