What fertilizers we should use for low nitrogen fertilizer. Will vermicompost be enough ?

Good tip on limiting Nitrogen in the later growing stages. An absolute must to maximize fruit production. I grew two varieties of French Chanterais melons this year, Escorial and Savor. Savor ripens in about 95 days and Escorial in about 110 days. Both were grown from seed and introduced as seedlings April 5 here in zone 10a. Escorial produced a commercial size cantaloupe melon while Savor produced a softball size. Both had excellent flavor, texture and sweetness with Savor my personal favorite. Fertilized 2x in the first 30 days with 21-7-10 and then switched to 0-20-0 foliar weekly through the remainder of the growing season. Five hills produced 40+ fruit although some were lost to squirrel and rabbit damage. Did get both powdery mildew and aphids in mid-July. Soap solution with a tiny shot of rubbing alcohol took care of both issues. Both fruit are superior to supermarket options, fragrant, juicy, sweet with a crispy texture. Soil is sandy loam with chix manure amendment

Thanks for the info.
My problem: Unlike my watermelons, where I can easily tell the difference between the male and female flower, with my cantaloupe, I am having a hard time telling, since they all look about the same to me. We have very very few bees in this area, so I need to hand pollinate. And I have plenty of vines and flowers.
Any help would be welcomed

I'm growing some cantaloupe this season and I've noticed I have a lot of flowers, but no fruit yet. She has been flowering for about 3-4 weeks. I haven't see ANY bumblebees pollinating the flowers yet either. Is there anyway to attract the bumblebees?

You're so relaxed and easy to listen to. I like your videos very much. Any tips on getting Israeli canteloupe to germinate? I am having trouble with it. We have a long growing season, so i am lucky I have time to experiment with it. All my other melons have germinated with no trouble at all. But I have seed from two sources for the Israeli and can't get either to germinate. It is my husband's favorite melon, so I want very much to grow it for him. Help!
