how deep and how wide were your blueberry beds dug , what measurements?
do you add sulfur ?
how often do you water ?
what is your native soil ?
i have recently planted 2 bushes, the holes were pretty deep, about a meter in width and depth, filled them with pine forest mulch(needles) on the bottom, and some ''dirt soil'' from under the needles closer to the surfacing layer. My garden is a pure yellow/white sand soil, so the pine mulch was drying out pretty quickly. When i was planting i added some acidic peat from shop and mixed it into the top layer around the bush. it was still drying out quicky though so i put a thick layer of pine bark. I wonder what will come of my blueberries. i am worried that the pine needles on the bottom of the holes will gradually rot and the bushes will ''get dropped'' too deep. if this happens, can i dig them out and add more soil , and then plant again ?
Your blueberries look awesomely fantastic, i keep dreaming mine will be growing like that! -
how do u prepare for clay soil?
-
I don't know what kind of a mixture you need but whatever you are using it needs to be acidic and able to drain well
-
would a mix of 70% sphagnum peat and 30% perlite work in a potted berry bush??

the title and the content sure don't match... is this a how-to or what? I think the title should be, "Blueberries like pine mulch for soil" and then you don't need a video to tell us that....

i love it too...veryyy muchh...

@lycheesack If you get soil at the store it will not be acidic but you can get fertilize to make it acidic. On this blueberry plant here we have pine mulch. It is ground up pine trees. The dead ones will work fine. Even pine bark will work to.

@Thesacredpyramid1 From what you said, you know very little about the soil for blueberry plants. If you water them to much they will get root rot and DIE. If the soil is well drained then yes,"if you water them every day, the soil will loose it's acidity a lot sooner."

@amusingisthedawn hahah I said whole. I meant, hole.

I have really thick hard clay. I just dug a whole about 4 times bigger than I needed...filled half of it with sand, and then mixed in some peat moss and compost.

Thanks............a beautiful crop, very impressive.

@swimbait1 Yes, the entire bed of soil is made up of Bark, needles and ground up pine logs. And once in a while we will put some ascitic fertilizer around them.
-
I'm curious, is the soil made up entirely of pine bark and needles or is there some soil too? Also, did you use other soil ammendments? Sulfur?

Thank you. I will try it one day. We have pine trees in my backyard and I think the soil is dry in the summer. Goto find out which variety I need to get. Once again thank you and looking forward to seeing more videos of your Wendell project!

@nonesounique In FL, it is possible to grow blueberries there if you get the right variety. I have never been there! Just get a blueberry and try it!! Thanks

Nice! Where are you located that you can grow blueberries? I love to be able to grow blueberries in Northern California.; I'm no gardener and I don't know if that's possible.
