I'm 12 minutes in. Where's the "how to grow" part?

Compost tea is wonderful stuff and it's great as a foliar feed. But when I used it, I was always careful to only apply it to the soil and to non-consumable parts of my plants. I noticed that you dumped it all over the edible leaves and everything... aren't you worried about eating poop?

i haven't seen you do any seed starting anymore. i don't think i've ever seen you do seed starts.

Travel around the globe? Don't you know the earth is flat....

African Blue Basil is my favorite. Just AWESOME. It's a perennial in SoCal.

Hi, I just bought a plant of sweet basil at the supermarket and I would like to repot it And place it in my back yard. I am a little worried about pests and insects killing it.... Do you have any suggestion for a natural organic remedy or home made recipe for an effective pesticide? I would like to avoid using chemical products. Thank you :-)

happy new year john and happy groing

I've used mychorrhizae yet, but I would have thought adding it to the pot a week prior to planting would be the way to go - let them get establishing on the roots before planting?

Wow! I was not aware of all the different varieties of basil. Thanks!

Soylent Green Is people! That's Tuesday food though.

In your opinion do you think boogie brew tea is as helpful as homemade healthy compost tea?

Hi John I absolutely love basil I started growin all kinds of it in my backyard thanks to your videos, I read online though that if I want to have Thai basil lemon basil etc. next year I have to keep my basals from cross pollinating is that true? Or will they just grow back on their own the next year? If I need to keep them from cross pollinating how do I do that?

Wait...you live in Vegas???? I thought you were in CA. I live in Henderson!! I noticed my Basil does really good. This is my first year having a raise garden bed. Learning a lot. My grandmother was telling me that we have a farmers market. I'm looking forward to seeing what we can grow out here and maybe some tips. Right now I have something eating my plants. Really lost on what to do. Anyways, I love your videos and hope I can support my family by growing my own veggies.

Hey John, I just want to say that I appreciate your videos. You definitely have a lot of good knowledge to share and do a good job doing so.
But I can't help to notice in the beginning of this video, you said something about some people not being allowed to grow vegetables. I was curious about this.. Are there some places where there are government rules or something? -
praise john

I am growing the Red Ruben 16:55 and the bugs have eaten the crap out of it and left the other varieties alone LOL! I like fresh Cinnamon Basil leaves added to lettuce as a topping on a garden fresh salad.

"Very important"! basil is a cross-pollinating plant. If someone is trying to strictly grow a particular variety of basil the pollen from one basil will mix with the other and create a new hybrid in the seeds. Therefore isolation of the plant(s) from other similar family members is required to isolate the breed. Also if one is searching for a new flavor/aroma or both, the basil is a perfect plant for experimenting with. I accidentally came across this info when one of my basil plants produced seeds to a plant unlike itself. Then I realized it was a mix of the two different basils I had side by side. I now have 30 different varieties of basils, most are hybrids, that smell and taste wonderful. One of them could easily be mistaken for black liquorish. As always thanks for your videos Mr John and I hope this information was helpful to anyone whom needed it. :)

:) miracle crap haha love it, thnx for sharing. I began growing Holy Basil this yr and pick about 10 leaves a day along with some mint leaves and steep in about 1/2 gal water that I bring to a boil. I sip on it nearly all day. It is amazing how it has helped eliminate the nausea and hot flashes I have been having for over a yr.I am impressed with this plant and want to keep it as a part of my life from now on.
