I never really liked soul ring on alchemist. I always think about the future and staying on the most hp at all times before you hit 6. Soul ring doesn't seem to be that great until you get level 6, or else it can really hurt you depending on the enemy lineup. Plus since alchemist farms fast you will be getting rid of the soul ring fast. I usually like to give the bottle to a support, or other heroes.

I just see a lot more utility in bottle, while soul ring to me is definitely the greedier choice. Though in higher level mmrs and team games, it's probably better to get soul ring as you probably will have supports stacking for you, and don't have the chaos of lower level pubs.

Also if you have a secure way to get runes, you are denying the enemy mid a rune, or making them take a risk. I guess it's just my personal preference though.
