Caterpillars have been my biggest enemy this year in the garden. Definitely trying this! In fact, just laid some egg shells down in the pattern you described. Will keep you posted!

So far, the slugs at my house (and there are many) prefer the dry cat food I keep for the stray cat over my crops. The cat isn't too thrilled.

I have these tiny snails that form a carpet over the top once I water my containers. They multiply rapidly too. They aren't causing any plant damage directly but I'm sure they are robbing my container plants of nutrients. I will be using Sluggo for this as soon as I get it from USA.

What the shells add to your garden once they have broken down? Calcium?

Thanks for the info. This was my first year with a garden and the slugs decimated my crops. It took awhile to figure out what the problem was because I didn't see them during the daytime. I will start saving my egg shells for next spring.
