How to Create a Succulent Pocket Garden
Tips, Tricks
Garden designer Laura Eubanks (http://www.designforserenity.com) shows how to create a "mosaic-like" pocket garden of succulents, from start to finish. Laura's helpful tips include how she shops for succulents (she "counts heads"), and how she takes cuttings and plants them---resulting in a colorful, eye-catching and harmonious composition perfect for small gardens. Although an in-ground garden like this is best for a mild, frost-free climate, many of Laura's ideas will apply to succulent container compositions that need to be overwintered indoors. Producer and garden photojournalist Debra Lee Baldwin is the author of three books about using succulent plants in gardens and containers: Designing with Succulents, Succulent Container Gardens, and Succulents Simplified. Filmed in a private garden in Rancho Bernardo, CA. Size of the pocket garden shown in the video is approximately 9 square feet. Want to learn more about using these lovely, low-maintenance plants like the pros do? Debra Lee Baldwin now offers a 3-hour, 7-lesson online class: Stunning Succulent Arrangements. http://www.craftsy.com/ext/Debra-LeeBaldwin_4864_F

Debra, I bought your succulents simplified book. I just wanted to ask if there is anything that I can do to "heal" succulents? My succulents are always not growing well and don't look like they do in your book. I don't over water but I also don't fertilize.

I have a huge planter box in front of my hotel and a lot of plants have died from the previous manager not taking care of it. I bought a bunch of succulents. some of the other plants are still good. is it on for me to plant succulents with other plants that are not succulents?

you don't need to let cutting ends dry before placing them inside soil?

Would i need to put down " Weed mats " ?? Or can the pebbles and rocks go straight on top of the soil ?!

I want to add a Succulent garden in my front yard. But that area is really sunny. Will that be too much sun?

I am dying as I'm watching the large containers of plants with multiple clumps/rosettes of succulents!!! I live in a Ohio where these are not hardy so when we buy these plants there's only one to a pot (4 inch pot or smaller). I would go crazy if I had these pots. Great video, the garden design is beautiful. I'm also learning how to pronounce things...thanks for the info!

wow that is so pretty

it turned out beautiful! I live in Utah do you have any tips?

this lady is a genius. I love how she just goes in and starts cutting things apart.

Thank you so much for sharing this! It was very enlightening. I made my first attempt with succulents trying to do the same thing, but silly me, I spaced them out like perennials and waited forever for them to grow and fill the space. When they finally did, it looked off, so I pulled them all out to try again. :/ I just couldn't figure out how to get them to look so elegantly full. Now I get it! Thank you so much, I appreciate you posting and Laura demonstrating it!

I started my little succulent journey with a tiny little Sedum....those little berry leaves fall off if you sneeze in thier direction so I grew very scared and thought they were super frail. I'm excited to have seen in many videos how tough these guys really are. Not just Sedums but all kinds of succulents! AWESOME video....in my favorites list!

Can you please do an update video pleaseeee👍👍👍👍I would love to see how they are doing. TFS

All my life, I thought I hated succulents because they were too barren and blah. Turns out I never saw any that were grouped in an actual creative DESIGN. This is so beautiful. Such an inspiration! I'm definitely going to add a rock garden to my yard now.
