Strawberries are typically NOT shade plants. They like the sun very very much and need to have good access to it year round if possible.

If the strawberry is a hybrid, the plant wont' grow true from seed. There is no telling what you will get. The plants multiply like crazy so leave room for them to fill out and spread out.

The first year you won't get much. You might want to just pluck off the flowers so the plants concentrate on rooting and such. The second year, if they are everbearing, pluck all flowers before July. Feed them Potassium, not Nitrogen.
