Really, a popular tree throughout North America but so far amongst the Central Coast this is one of our most popular feature trees. So in this case I want to point out that there are more than 450 varieties of green and red Japanese Maple, hybrids like you wouldn't believe. This one here is one of my favorites, this is called a garnet. But notice, here we are, summer months, a little bit of browning on the tips. Why is that the case? you ask.. Well as soon as summer hits the lush spring foliage gets hit with sun and wind and you see this in almost all Japanese Maples. So how do you over come it? Well that's where Wilt Stop comes in, this is a natural product that will last for 6 to 8 weeks, it's made of Pine Resin so coming into summer, you get it ready and you apply a little bit to your Japanese Maple and it's like Sunscreen for the Japanese Maple. Applied correctly it will actually prevent those brown tips. This will also help with frost as well. This will give you 4 or 5 degrees of protection on tender subtropicals when you know a frost will hit. But when it comes to Japanese Maples, see your local nursery. They are going to have a much better selection than one of the box stores. Plus the know how on how to plant it and make sure you succeed at it. Thanks for tuning in. Plant a Japanese Maple and come summer, think about something like Wilt Stop. McShane's Nursery and Landscape Supply Copyright 2010 Landon Wolf Copyright 2010

That stuff wont help the condition, and they know it. If only it was that easy. Bit underhand, advertising a useless product under the guise of assisting us to care for JM trees. I have 13 trees, three in the ground and the others in large pots. Some are prone to leaf scorch more than others. I have found that once they get bigger, they cope better. Finding a better position helps a bit with regards to sun exposure, but not with wind. Despite what experts say, when there is a strong wind, it goes everywhere that is in the open! I initially was watering little as advised by most. After increasing watering by quite a margin, the trees all did so much better. Also the addition of sulphate of iron to the compost, as advised by my local garden centre, helped a lot, increasing growth. But this stuff, it wont help one bit. He says something about sun block. That gives the game away. Anyone seriously believe that!

so basically it's a two minute commercial for some off the wall crap. I wish I could get the last two minutes of my life back. I believe I will see my local nursery. I sure as hell can't depend on you for information on growing even weeds.

Is it better in some shades or full sunlight?

Ugh I tried that product and it burned most of my green japanese maple leafs... don't buy it.

That spray won't do a damn thing. Also, that wasn't leaf burn at all. Looked more like salt build up from poor irrigation water, to me.

The advice he gave: buy this product I just advertised for and if you want some tips go to your local nursery.... - hmm... next video

I live in North Georgia and I noticed my red Japanese maple getting burned every year, I'll try that product!
