Do you have to use perlite. It's inert so what's the point just use peat moss.
-
Would substrate sand work?
-

-
Thanx dude, this damn well better work!

Miracle gro adds adittional nutrients that can harm your venus flytrap get some Sphagnum peat moss soils at wal-mart for 9 dollars
-
Don't use anything Miracle Gro. It will kill your carnivorous plant. Try to find something organic and not enriched.

-
is it fine to use cut up outdoor moss and outdoor sand
-
WOW.... I use pure sphagnum peat moss, and I mean the long fiber stuff, not the ground up moss. My plants are doing great! They practically spread like weeds inside the outdoor terrarium (I live in SoCal so they need the extra humidity, but the terrarium is large enough so that they don't over-heat)

Can you use ericaceous soil intead and add perlite/ sand with it? cos the garden centre recommended i used it as it has got peat moss in it but i read the label and it said it has soluble nutrients, and he said that VFT need poor soil quality

This guy can't mix soil, it goes all over the place
-
What happens if you use potting mix that is rich in nutrients?
-
