There are some places, like here in the high desert at 6000 ft, where the land will not support agriculture without huge imports of water and organic matter, and is only able to support limited grazing. Grassfed meat is actually more sustainable than the water and oil heavy industrialized grain and legume farming to provide vegan foods.

You got nice videos. Do hot weather variety tomatoes set fruit in June July in Phoenix?
-
way too much talk and not enough actual info
i grew a beard waiting for you to stop waffling and get on with it -
This time I'll use woodprix instructions to make it myself :)

Love your video's but your are a little long winded, 1 hr gardening video is a little much, if you could keep them 30 minute or less I think that you would reach more people and hold their attention better.

I am Russian, and I live in a rural area, if we live in a private home goes without saying that should be near the house garden. Garden gives you a lot of very tasty vegetables, if you try the vegetables grown in your garden, any other vegetables bought at the store seem tasteless. You probably already know that in Russia, many urban residents are trying to have a dachas and grow vegetables for themselves. We previously knew nothing about organic gardening, but did everything in much the same way you do.

I have to say that your reference to the drought in California and that you were not in so much drought issues>concerns me... it's because up here, where we were put on 1/2 of year 2012 usage water restrictions ( and FINED) is because our local government and Governor Brown sold OUR WATER down to SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA... for any reason Southern California wanted water. You are interested in conserving.. But My Garden water was sold South for someone's GRASS and POOL!. I washed dishes and laundry by hand and lost several long term plants because of the drought. I altered the pipes in the house so regular sink/bath water went to a tub to be drained into the yard where needed. Animals get fresh water. The drought was and is very real. Homesteading is very very REAL as far as Only having so much of anything to make it last.
This year we are "AT THIS TIME::: Not on restrictions".. Hooray and Hallelujah!!! But I don't believe it is OVER. -
Also according to Paul Gautschi from "Back to Eden Garden" Wood chips also balance your PH of your soil to plant any kind of tree or vegetable , .
-
Wood chips is different to mulch , The Vegan Athlete use wood chips Also Paul Gautschi , from "Back to Eden Garden" also recommend wood chips , not mulch.

Very interesting, love the info you share. Please tell the cameraman next time to film what the viewer want to look at :( so frustrating not to see what you point at and talk about! Thanks anyhow!

John... one thing you can do is bury a circulating tube under a pile of compost. The heat worms the tube. Free heating of your tubes.

entire video was fun. Minute 40 had the variety info I have been wondering about.

John- Love your videos and I agree alot of the mis-information about the water use in California is being deliberately done by local state and federal agencies. I agree with you that we need to move from a more "meat" based diet to a more plant base diet. With that being said, I know you like aquaponics and I do not understand why you haven't started one yet. Remember the old preachers saying, "when you are pointing your finger out, you have 3 pointing back at you. Keep up the great videos and take care.

THANK YOU SO MUCH!! I have been vegetable gardening with raised beds in the Houston area for about seven years now. While I have had some successes, I haven't achieved the levels of production that I feel like should be happening. It has been EXTREMELY helpful to see an accomplished gardener (you) talk about how certain things didn't quite work out and why. It turns out that is a part of regular gardening. This has really reinforced my confidence and let me know that I am definitely on the right track. Thank you, thank you, thank you!

What do you do with all that you grow?

Hey, where's the Garden Tower you set up a few years ago, or was that at a different house?
Before seeing your vids I didn't think gardening in Vegas was doable. Thank you so much. I would love to turn my barren backyard into an urban jungle like that, but I can see it's going to take a lot of work. I'm starting out with a Aerogarden like in another vid of yours, (baby steps) because I thought it was too hot here to do much outside.
