What a fantastic display I just love dahlias I cannot get enough of them....carry on the great work.

I grow about 400 dahlias, and around 150 varieties.

This garden is so inspirational and is one of the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen. I can see why you love dahlias so much. I was captured from start to finish. how many dahlias did you have? I've just bought my first home and look forward to learning how to garden, I will definitely be buying a dahlia or two to learn with as i have never done any gardening before. The longer you leave them in the ground the bigger the tubers will be. However if the weather gets very wet or very cold the greater the chance that they will rot in the garden. Some people in warmer climates get away with leaving them out in the garden all winter, but they tend to lose a few.

Mildew can weaken the plants and therefore make the tubers smaller, but I don't think it will overwinter on the tubers.

Can mildew on the leaves damage the tubers?
