How fast do watermelons and cantaloupe grow? fuit flower
Tips, Tricks
How fast do watermelons and cantaloupes (crimson sweet and sierra gold) grow flower fruit? I don't know but this is how fast mine do. Im in the middle of the season and it just started. I should have a productive summer if all goes well. I use miracle gro and worthless soil to grow them. No compost or mulch or anything like that. watermelon time lapse but not timelapse like fast forward more like showing them at different times. lame but it's all I got.

I keep trying to plant Cantaloupe from seed, and it grows into a plant fast, and even flowers, but than it just dries off

Believe it or not, I live in Las Vegas, NV and I planted cantaloupes in my back yard in April, today I'm picking my first ripe one. I made some mistakes and probably next year I will do better.

I'm in Maryland. My melons are only the size of golf balls, but they're coming. This is my first year gardening, so I'm hoping for a good harvest!

I thought I wasn't going to get any watermelons this year---2015, but wow, I have about 15 actually growing!!
But maybe you or someone can help with my problem! Keep in mind that this is the very first time I am trying to grow several vegetables and fruits.
I am in Northwest Indiana, near lake Michigan.
Anyway, the melons are about one half a foot long and about 3 to five inches round. BUT, there is ---one some of them---a black pasty substance, kind of slippery sticky!! I do not know if it is caused by insects (I have noticed black crickets around and under the grass!), or some kind of fungus, but if I am not careful, this may destroy all the melons that are now growing!

Thanks for posting this.

This is my first year growing melons. I have vertically planted two watermelon (about 6 inches apart), a cantaloupe, and honey dew (about 6 inches apart)....The cantaloupe are the most aggressive! What happens when the watermelons split open? They are on a trellis, but have now grown along the ground. Why are those on the ground splitting???

I planted watermelon from seed a month or so ago, now I have plenty of vines seemingly growing everywhere---but NO watermelons!
My wife's sister says I will not get any melons the first year! Am I in too big a hurry, or is she right!

you said you are giving the pant 1 gallone of water every day, if the full growing period of water melon is 4 months that means for one plant you are watering 120 gallon of water, Where as each plant might give 3 or four watermelon, dont you think you are using lots of water per plant?
