How and When to Prune Cilantro
Tips, Tricks
Additional tip: We suggest harvesting your cilantro to eat by cutting off the top 1/3rd of the plant about once a week. That will keep it growing back. Over-harvesting cilantro will cause it not to grow back. Don't harvest more than 1/3rd at a time. Grow more cilantro if you need to harvest it more often. My Cilantro plant is literally flopping over.
I bought it already potted.
Should I remove it from the container and re- pot it in a bigger container? -
Perfect Video, i was wondering what happened to my cilantro, it started (as i now know) flowering and i was really confused. But now i know my cilantro is flowering, one question i have is one of my cilantro really flowered and grew a very thick root, do you recommend i pull and replant or can i save it?
-
okay im so confused!!! i cut the flower so i can keep my cilantro growing, right? but what if i want to cut them to eat and will they grow back if i cut them? do i throw the flowers back in the pot to turn to seeds? or do i let the flowers dry then throw them back in the pot?

Thank you for a concise tutorial! I didn't know about the flowering... I guess I will have to replant or something... but I'm going to go clip them now & see if they can be salvaged. Short & sweet, this was perfect!

thanks for the tip

To all of those saying this is not cilantro. I am 100% it is. Like they said in the video it is it is in the flowering stage and at that stage the leaves at the top look different.
-
Haha you dummy, thats not cilantro

I have two cilantro plants and one is so big it had slumped over, and the other don't look to good, probably because i didn't know about the whole flowering thing, live and learn, thanks for the lesson
-
that's....NOT cilantro...
-
ok, my cilantro flowered. I was hoping the seeds would fall off and grow more cilantro. can I still trim those flowers and produce more cilantro leaves?
-
Very helpful information! I am growing cilantro for the first time. Thanks!
-
My cilantro has flowered already and has little tiny white flowers on them...where do I cut it at to keep it growing?
-
The flowering is exactly what happened to mine.. now it's just a withered, sad stalk. I should have pruned it!

You guys don't really address how to trim cilantro. People want to know how to prune so they can both use it for cooking and maintain a healthy bushy plant. How can I take charge of my cilantro? I guess one step at a time? I'm good at pinching basil. I'm saddened in general by some people's reluctance to cut back their pants. Ok, I won't let my herbs flower. I never do.

That was very helpful, thanks for posting it! I have my first cilantro plant this year and didn't know how to take care of it.
