2016 YES IT'S HOT! Our tomatoes have stopped. We didn't get very many either and this video has helped me understand all the issues that my hubby has faced with his experiment. He has never gardened in any shape or form in his life and this year he planted 4 or 5 tomato plants. Not sure what variety, but the few we did harvest are really meaty and they are sort of pear shaped, but that could be because of the weather as well as the poor soil. He planted them in some 1/2 barrels that I have used for various plants over the past 5 years. No refreshing of the soil, he didn't know, yet we did get some fruit. Thank you for explaining some of the issues I have seen. In the next few weeks I will add compost and manure to the planters and next year we should do better. I have written down some of the varieties that intrigue me and will look for those seeds.

Thanks for the information on cucumbers. It's been 90+ with high humidity with heat indexes over 110 somedays and cucumber plants has "C" shaped cucumbers every now and then and tastes great! Thanks for the tip on yellowing large cucumber to keep for seeds. This heat wave going though the Tidewater region of southeastern Virginia has not been like this since 2012 according to my neighbor and fellow gardener. Thanks again for your series on your channel.. Stay well and has tall glass of lemonade!🐞😊

I just learned that Tomatillo plants are self-sterile, they need to grow with a couple of other tomatillo plants in order to pollinate properly and set fruit.

hi friend, good video thanx! ide like to share 2 simple things ive begun doing in the garden that has REALLY helped me in the summer heat, ere in Arizona. First, when watering early in the morning, take extra care to NOT wet the actual plants/leaves. This means dont use a spray nozzle at all. Instead, use a soaker hoseat the plants base, as to only allow the dirt to get wet... (this will have a quick and noticable difference) Also (if u can) bring the radio/music player outside with you after u water and play your garden some classical music and/or a vibrational growth track, such as "Rhapsody in Green" . My plants litterally start moving to the music! they love it! Any way hope u guys find these 2 simple tips and give them a try! u wont be dissapointed!

Hot, Hot, Hot here in SW Florida... You'd think all the rain and sun would be great for a garden, and it is to a certain extent but as a new gardener, I have learned that you need to understand the genetics of what your planting. It was my fault for buying plant starts at my local ACE back in May. Now here in August I have nothing but challenges. I pulled all 6 of my tomato plants. My pepper plants still put out, but harvesting is a challenge. Use lots of multch and a water timer! Thx 4 your vid
