Help You Grow a Vegetable Garden in Miami without all the work
Tips, Tricks
John from http://www.growingyourgreens.com/ goes on a field trip to Ready to Grow Gardens in Miami, Florida to share with you how you can grow a vegetable garden with help in South Florida. In this episode, John will visit the Ready to Grow Grow Nursery and Demonstration garden to share with you the perennial and annual crops that can be grown in South Florida . You will also discover the one of the best ways to grow these crops: in a raised bed garden. You will learn how Ready to Grow Gardens is re-purposing hardwood to build raised beds that enable people young and old to grow their own food. John will take you on a tour of the demonstration garden so you can get an idea of some of the crops John would grow in the Miami area. Finally, John will sit down with the owner of Ready to Grow Gardens, Dylan Terry to ask him some questions about why he started the business, some of his favorite perennial vegetables to grow and much, much more. After watching this episode, you will have a better understanding of how to grow a vegetable garden in South Florida or where ever you live. Have you ever seen front yard gardens that don't piss of your neighbors or bring down their property value? Can someone sustain themselves with only backyard gardens in your opinion?
P.S. I hate all the bugs that infest my leafy greens, like Kale -
Wow, I didn't know you were out here. I live in Miami now, originally from Brooklyn, NY. Someone like me who can't afford these alleged "farmer's markets" (Which is ridiculous they have to truck it in at zone 10, smh), I definitely have been grateful enough to come across yours and Ray Praxus's channels to learn basically all I needed to grow at least much of my own food (good looking out!). I didn't even know this place existed lol, Interesting....

dylan is a cutie!!

what i do not understand, why people in USA find it ok to grow their food right next to a busy street where all the heavy metal out of the exhaust will contaminate the plant life.
-
Thanks! The raised bed construction was really helpful.

Hey John...Do you have any advice on how to keep the squirrels from destroying everything? They dig up everything. I have been tempted to invite them to be my supper.

Been looking for the name of that peanut butter tasting leaved tree.......can someone help me out?

saropis.. interesting. perhaps small videos with specific titles and explanations would gather you more views.
-
what is that plant at 21:00 that tastes like peanut butter ?
-
something I've done with my boxes are to countersink them 4-6 inches and dig out the inside before filling. this helps to keep the frame rigid so it doesn't bow out.

I visited Miami Florida in the 90's - loved it! The warmer climate is actually very similar to Brisbane here in Oz where I live (nearby) so it's no surprise to me how many plants (especially edibles) you can grow in that wonderful part of the world. Cheers :)

Awesome video. I just set up a new raised bed garden and love the drip system, it makes it some much easier to water. Thanks for sharing.

We have a place like this in Las Vegas but they are very expensive. I wish it was a little more affordable.
