I'm allergic to fish...can I skip the fish step and use a different fertilizer

Great information as always. 👍 Thank you. I shopped for Millionaire or Ichiban varieties last spring as my Japanese friend and her husband recommended, but about all I could find anywhere was Black Beauty. I finally bought seed for some Chinese variety from Baker Creek, but whatever grew there was NOT eggplant. That was my only fail with Baker Creek. I know they are generally pretty good. The trick of putting fish and lime in the hole is one I hope to try next time around.

laughed out loud... country as a turnip green. love it!! I Love You Guys!!❤❤

wow!!.... didnt know you could use waste fish like that. I always compost my fish bones and heads for six months in leaf mould before using.
I also dry out my fish bones ....then crush them and add to my tomato plant soil when planting as a source of calcium....they love it.
I thought the rotting fish would have negative effect on the roots. Seems you learn something new every day.
thanks for a great channel -
Hi Hollis and Nancy, I love going through your videos to reference what I'm growing! I currently have 60+ fruits growing on my fairytale eggplants 😊🍆

Questions ..... Do you plant the black beauties the same way? How many fish and does it matter which type per hole? Do you or can you use fish in the planting of other types of vegetables if so which types would work best? Why didn't you break the roots at the bottom of the ball or is that actually a bad thing to do? Thank you so much , I have learned tons from you guys> You have been a blessing!

I had given up on growing eggplants here in VT. I think I will take a look for the Japanese variety. Maybe they are better in production vs. Black Beauty's like you suggested. I also like your support idea for young plants with 4 skinny sticks. Another great tip that I'm sure helps with plant success. I'm going to try! Thanks again, Carol in VT

Thank you for this video,I planted five eggplants in my garden yesterday first time hearing about the fish method.

I need this video -- I have never succeeded in getting eggplants to grow well and to maturity. This year, I started some black beauty seeds, and all of them came up, so I've got 8-9 little plants. Maybe with this tutorial, I will finally have eggplants this year. Oh, my grandma used to plant fish with her tomatoes! I've never seen anyone else do that!
