Harvesting & Growing Cilantro in 5 Gallon Containers: My 1st Vegetable Garden - MFG 2013

1. Can I grow this indoors?
2. Gary, can Cilantro be planted in shallow containers? I have several 15' dia bowls that are bout 6" deep in the center.
3. Can I plant cilantro in the same 5 gallon bucket that I am growing my tomato as a companion?
4. Hi Gary, great vid, thanks for sharing! :) A couple of questions: 1) Do you water these from the top, and if so, do you get issues with pests/bugs? I'm thinking about copying your method, although will probably set it up like a self-watering container. :) The growth on these are amazing in only four weeks! I started seeds in rockwool and after sprouting tried three ways: one was kept in the rockwool, one was moved into a simple kratky (hydroponic) setup and the third into a self-watering mini-container with potting mix. The rockwool one is the largest of these! The kratky one would probably have been the best one, had I not moved it into another container that killed it off... so my q is, have you tried rockwool and what are your experiences? Sorry for the lengthy comment! Greetings from Norway. :)
5. i'm growing cilantro for the first time. i let it go a little more time than this and it's all got these second shoots coming up with new tiny thin leaves (kind of hairy) and where it branches off, they look like little bulbs. as well, the main stem got a little thicker. i wanted to cut some to cook with, yet allow the plants to keep producing more leaves... i wasn't sure, when clipping, where i should make my cut. first, i considered that if i cut all of the leaves off entirely that the root system would probably die out. then i wasn't sure if i should cut off the old leaves or cut off the new leaves.
   i ended up doing three things to see what happens. on a couple, i clipped all the leaves, but i didn't cut down at the roots, i cut just above that bulb-ish area where the new leaves were growing out of. then, on some, i just clipped off the new leaves, and others i just clipped off the old leaves. i was hoping to find a video instead of waiting to see what the results are, but i can't seem to find anyone covering this info : |

7. Thank you. 1st season grower here. I didn't know what to do with the giant stalk shooting up.... or honestly which part I was supposed to harvest. I broke off a small piece of stalk and it smelled fantastic.......... but apparently that isn't the part I'm supposed to use.

10. trying hard to grow cilantro properly, but somehow only little growth happening, tried two different varities, waiting for the third one to arrive...What I wanted to do before I watched this video is to try grow a few plants instead of overseeding, but now not sure anymore. Maybe the reason is too warm climate (Japan) and i should search for a heat tolerant varieties.

16. I often bought cilantro plants from the grocery store or planted them myself. I keep it inside in a pot. I always have the same problem. When I cut a few leaves from the mother plant, the rest of the plant dryes out and dyes after. I was told this was common. Is that so or is there a way to keep the plant. You seem to do it in your vidéo. I live in Québec, Canada

19. Thank you so much! lol wasn't sure how to harvest my cilantro aha. I didn't know by doing that (snipping them that way) would be fine& I didn't know they'd grow back.
