Growing Vegetables (Tomato, Cucumber, Pepper & Basil) in a Self Watering Container: It Works!
Tips, Tricks
I was in a contest with some friends and won a Crescent Garden container. I could have picked any kind. I went for the TruDrop self watering container. I have a large vegetable container garden. I put this one to the test and planted tomatoes, cucumbers, peppers, basil and onions in it. The video takes you from set up to harvest. It was a success! I thought I would have to fill it every 2 weeks... I never filled it once over an 8 week period. -

I have 2 bush cucumbers in a 5 gal con do you think that's to much. they have good rich, homemade soil. N ever had 2 in a 5 gal b4. just a question for you sir. it may be weird but in the video you state its the 6th and say you'll update us in a few weeks, in which you did but the date you published the video is on the 6th. how was this done. I may be missing something.

just got a hold of this video and was wondering if you could give us the name and web site I'm very interested in this, because I've got my mom of 88 back into gardening but watering can be a chore, not being able to climb the stairs to turn the water on. Thank you and God bless.

Where are the cut it in half youtube guys for this? I want to see what makes it tick.

$200 for these thingy? Just crazy! I can DIY one like that and also put a wireless sensor on the soil... All of that wouldnt cost me more than 50 bucks
-
$270 for just one, need at least 6... I'll stick with hydroponics, I like MEAT, uh, fresh fish with my veggies. grown year round.
-
I used two dissimilar 5 gal buckets and that gave me more water capacity so I only have to fill every other day.

Thanks looking for more , love your videos 🤗

What is the cost of one of these containers, and were can I purchase one?
-
What type of fertilizer should I use for all kind of vegetable:)

I am digging the container Gary! I love long term trials because my biggest concern is cracking or weathering. I can't stand how many pots I go through... It may be worth it if I don't have to buy new pots every 1-2 years.

Next year I'm going to get one of those shade tents..
-
I take it you do not have a drip system on a timer? Have you considered installing one?
-
I thought this was going to be a dud,but it turned out pretty good actually.

Wow Gary, that system is fantastic and what a success. The comment below mentioned the price. I'm not happy with that, but it might be worth it to battle the stink bugs I've had. They ruined all of my tomatoes.. I could grow tomatoes in another area with that container and maybe the stink bugs won't find them. Where do you live? You were talking about the temps in 90's and 100. I live in TX and we have the same heat and my black cherry tomatoes took a break but are producing again.
