Sorry!...another question. In the video it looks like you buried your orange buckets. Do I need to do that with my bags or just punch holes in them and set them up that way?

Is a 5 gallon grow bag okay for transplanting Onieda tobacco? I plan on putting 1 plant per bag.
Thanks!

You are so lucky to live in America. Look at this ridiculous law that prevents people from growing thier own better quality tobacco

I have a tobacco seedling that appears droopy, and some leaves appear damp and floppy. It is about an inch tall. I clipped off the droopy leaves. Leaving only the healthy leaves. Why would this occur. I live in the tropics and there is more than 12 hours sunlight and the plant gets adequate rain water. Any comments

I recently purchased the Black Sea Samsun seeds. I have germinated them in a small germination container and transplanted them into 4inch x 6 inch pots when there were about 2 leaves on them 1 inch long. Figured I would transplant them from the pots when they got larger in height. The country I live in is Trinidad which is close to the equator and the days are about 12 hours long and the plants are put in full sun usually planted them in containers and they get watered every other day and they get some fertilizer about once every two weeks.
However, the plants have tended to be leggy with 4 nodes of side legs with leaves on them. The plant has not grown vertically at all but exhibited lateral growth, see attached exhibit link of leggy ness [1] in other species. And there seems to be no vertical new growth from leaves unlike what I would expect [2] see attached link. Also each of the nodes have tended to produce miniature flowers. This has happened in four (4) of the five (5) tobacco plants planted.
Is there any way that I can save this plant? What caused this symptom? If I leave the plant to continue as is will it grow big leaves with me just topping the flowers off?
Your assistance and advice given is appreciated.

hi doc. ozzie bob. left a post a 2 weeks ago . just got your reply from a month ago. hope you are well doc. thank you for the help you have given to me. all plants are good now. started new plants with seeds from old ones ( slowly breeding the pommie plants out). the new seedlings come up in 4 to 5 days. sun is still a problem. got everything else in check. I can see why people give up first time they grow tobacco. this is a long term project. your help has been the reason I am still growing.

I am aware of the process.

Well maduro isn't the term that should be used to describe a strain of tobacco. A maduro tobacco leaf is a leaf that has undergone a more intense or extended fermentation process. There are two basic strains of tobacco, light and dark tobacco. Dark is usually used in cigars and a few examples would be habano, Havana, and criollo. Light tobacco is usually used in pipes and cigarettes and a few examples would be virginia gold and burleys.

There are over 30 common tobaccos used in the cigar industries. My self I like a darker leaf for a cigar smoke so my pick would be maduro tobacco.

which 1 is best for wrapping or rolling

Thanks for watching. WOW! I would have to write a book to answer your question. There are over a 100 different types of tobacco plants and some are better to grow in different locations and some are better for cigar smoking others for pipes and still others for cigarettes and chewing or snuff. Like I said it would take a book to answer your question. I grow Virginia Gold which is a good all around smoking tobacco.
