Right? Direct sow the seeds and keep moist especially during dry periods to avoid uneven growth size of the beets..Plant in a full sun area, plant 1/2 inch deep and space and thin seedlings 4-6 inches apart.. Beet tops, stems and root can be used.. #dianemummgardenvideos

I would harvest a few... not sure on that variety but would think all would be edible to eat..

Hi Diane...This is my first year growing beets, and I have a variety called Bull's Blood. I can see the shoulders of the beets sticking out of the ground and they are approximately 2 inches in diameter. Do you think they are ready to harvest? Also, the leaves are big, fluffy dark red. You mentioned eating the leaves, and I'm curious as to weather this is a variety that you would suggest eating the leaves. Thanks for any info you can provide!!!

Opps, lambs quarter weeds .I just boil them but I didn't know to leave the top part on, thanks for that. I also his put the in smoothies raw. The greens taste good cooked withe black beans and some spice. or in salad.

Those look really nice, Diane. Very pretty leaves, too. Mine got kind of woody, waiting for my bro-in-law to come and get them. I finally gave them to my sister to give to him, (he works out of town). I am not sure if he ever got them. Bummer. I do not care for them or I would have ate them.

raw.. not sure I can do that.. sure is a acquired taste ..lol I will have a video in a day or two on how I prepared them..

well I am going to pick the rest , ready or not.. need to clean up the beds.. oh not so bad since I had a chance to water some.. still uneven was a bummer but not all is lost just have to do up another couple batches.
